LEXICON

Art car

An art car is a motorized vehicle that is (usually) permanently and artistically modified and used for transportation, parties, fun, etc. during the gathering on the established (if available) roads in the event.

If you wish to drive around in an art car during Amber Burn, fill out the art gift application form. Note that simple vehicles must be parked in the parking lot and not driven around during the event on site.

Build Week

In case you are available and feel like volunteering during the Build Week of the event, you have to register and get Early Builder Pass.

Build week for Cosmic Freedom will happen from June 28 until July 4. Registration form will be sent to all ticket holders.

CC

Central Camp, or Corner Camp is a co-creative, shared communal structure built by and for all Amber Burn participants. The main important functions and spaces can usually be found in Central Camp, or Corner Camp: rangers, medics, a workshop area, an info point with maps and an activity program, volunteers to help you, and many more.

A workshop or similar area in the shared communal structure can also be used as a meeting room, performance venue, dance and workshop studio, or wardrobe, and this depends on all of the participants and what each of us will bring to it.

The shared communal area´s activities are curated by the program lead and published during the event. If you need space for your activity, performance, or whatever, register via the art gift form.

Consentina

Several volunteers addressed the importance and issues related to the 11th Burning Man principle of Consent at Amber Burn and other community events. The team gathered to discuss and find ways to learn more about it and apply better practices in our daily lives so we can all have a pleasant and safe environment.

The ‘Consentina‘ title was created by the consent team and is used when talking about the volunteer team dedicating their time to issues, education, and practices related to consent.

Consent applies (but is not limited to):

Touch: Just because you hugged someone yesterday doesn’t mean you can surprise them with a hug today. “Surprise contact” isn’t always wanted,

even if it’s affectionate.

Kink: Consent for one thing isn’t consent for another. If I said you could spank me, that doesn’t give you permission to grope me.

Sex: Consent can be revoked once it’s been given.

Gifts: Disclose what is in your gifts, even if it’s just essential oils. Some people have sensitivities.

Foods: Disclose the ingredients, one person’s innocuous ingredient can be someone else’s allergy.

Photography: Ask before taking pictures. Remember, consent to take a picture is NOT consent to post it on your blog.

Decompression

Decompression is an official regional Burning Man event held after burners come back from events and need a brief chance to reconnect, create, and easily come back to the default world.

FAST

Fire Art Safety Team. It supports artists employing open fire or flame effects and helps participants keep a safe distance.

Default or default world

Default is the normal, everyday world, reality, when not in the burn event or activity.

Theme Camp, or TC

A group of participants who provide an interactive experience to others to satisfy a need or offer a way to have fun and connect with others.

Theme Camp, or TC, examples:

  • A camp where visitors can play in an obstacle ring, shooting at each other with water guns.
  • A camp with live music where you can dance, have a drink, and connect with others.
  • A camp where people passionate about food offer a special dish to the visitors.
  • A camp where you simulate a medieval knight’s fight.
  • A camp where people are all dressed in pink, and you can come pick out pink clothes for yourself as well.
  • A camp where you can get a haircut, a shave, or wicked new hair color.
  • In fact, anything can be a Theme camp as long as it offers a participatory experience to others, so get creative and register your camp!

EYE PASS

EYE PASS is a permission for You to photograph and film at the Amber Burn event.

The permission is granted after You have applied for an Eye Pass, been approved to have one, and signed the Eye Pass contract with the legal entity “Lithuania Burners” bendruomenė.

Amber Burn is a place where we put our mobile phones and cameras away, respect each participant’s privacy, and do not publish anything without their consent.

However, if making photos and/or videos is your passion, you have the right to express yourself and create art as a photographer, videographer, or audio artist. For that, please apply for the Eye Pass when the application is announced.

Please keep in mind that prior to publicity on any media or social networking platform, every photographer must have written permission for the publicity from an Amber Burn representative.

It is all about common sense and respect—ask first. All photographers, professional and otherwise, must not interfere with the immediate experience of other participants. You must ask permission before photographing or filming any participant. If you are asked to stop filming, you must do so immediately.

The Eye Pass holder must always follow the rules of the signed Eye Pass contract and the Amber Burn Media Policy.

Greeter

A volunteer who is welcoming all participants upon their arrival at Amber Burn.

Kidsville or Kids Valley

A kid-friendly and family-friendly place where people or theme camps with kids in Amber Burn can camp together.

LBB

Lithuania Burners Bendruomene.

LNT

Leave No Trace is one of the 10 Burning Man principles. We leave the place of a burn the same or better than before. There are no trash bins at Amber Burn. So everything you bring, you must take back with you.

MOOP

Matter Out Of Place. Examples of MOOP: wood, trash, bottle caps, cans, cigarette butts, fireworks, and glow sticks; it can also be in the form of debris from campfires: firewood, splinters, glass, etc.

Remember, you have to leave your environment as clean as it was before, or better. It is your responsibility to collect your trash and bring it along with you when you leave.

MOOPATHON

The funniest party of the whole weekend is when everyone is dancing and having lots of fun running around picking up MOOP.

Pievaya

The Lithuania Burners version of Playa is a place where all the burnable art is placed and will be burned.

Ranger

A peaceful facilitation of public safety, non-confrontational community mediators, providers of reliable information, and helpers.

Strike

In case you are available and feel like volunteering during the strike of the event, come to the info point, or just stay on site after the end of the event and come to the strike meeting on Monday morning. A very nice bonus lies in volunteering for the strike: we get to arrange and experience the final burn, and it’s huge.

Festival or Gathering

Amber Burn is a community gathering and a participatory, temporary city based on the 10 Principles of Burning Man. To call Amber Burn a festival is not entirely correct.

Everything that happens in Amber Burn depends on what each of us brings and what we, as a community, create. There is nothing to buy, and there is no commercial sponsorship. This is not a place where you buy a ticket and expect entertainment to be ready, that someone makes a party for you, and that you can buy whatever you need during the event.

Everybody is an artist, an organizer, a performer, a musician – whoever they feel they want and can be. All of the temporary city’s citizens volunteer, bring something, build, create, gift, participate, and clean up. That what makes it a special place.
